Shays: McCain Can't Win; Lost His "Maverick" Brand

The problem with that is that a lot of Americans think you just "choose" your truth--the belief-based crowd. They can be led to believe just about anything, and rightwing operatives seem to fully expect them to, as evidenced by McCain's smear ads or Republican robo-calls.

Do Americans Understand What Socialism Is? -- Frank Salvato -- GOPUSA

Do Americans Understand What Socialism Is? -- Frank Salvato -- GOPUSA

In this article Frank Salvato tries, with the standard array of logical fallacies, to denegrate Barack Obama by associating him with socialism.  The Marx quote often bandied about by rightwing smear merchants is this one:

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."

Fallacies of rightwing bloggers aside, what's of interest here for us Christians is this, from Paul as he describes the beginnings of the early church in Acts:

32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

We Christians need to be honest about how we attempt to twist away from what is clearly stated in scripture.

LetFreedomRingUSA.org

Perhaps you've notice "LetFreedomRingUSA.com" has been launching several anti-democratic attack ads recently, especially ones warning about what will happen if we raise taxes.  One I just saw stated that raising taxes on businesses will cause them to have to lay off workers and we would lose jobs.  But the fact is, raising taxes (despite the glaring fact Obama and the Democrats will cut them for everyone earning beneath 250K) equates to government spending, which actually stimulates the economy as it goes to private businesses providing the goods or services.  Even when spent on publicly funded entities such as education, it in turn gets spent into businesses.  Government spending stimulates business.

There's an associated organization called "neverfindout.org" spreading videos (consisting of the same fallacy) calling Obama a liar on taxes.  Very sad.   They apparently want a certain segment of the population to "never find out" about the disaster resulting from their right wing ideology over the last 28 years, which intentionally and continually concentrated wealth into the hands of a few while everyone else had to work harder and harder for less and less.

Thus "Let Freedom Ring" is just another right wing con organization.  The "freedom" they want to preserve is that of the Paris Hiltons of the world and other capitalist heros and heroines.

GOP Increasingly Nervous About House And Senate Races (SLIDESHOW)

I agree. The whole of the right, all the pundits, talk radio, Fox News, the Heritage Foundation, the America Enterprise Institute, rightwing blogos--they all strongly promoted the Bush agenda every step of the way. Now that their ideology is proven a disaster in practice, instead of man-ing up to it, they're saying "oh that wasn't real conservatism" or they scapegoat Bush as if he did it all alone. Not healthy.

Tina Fey On Sarah Palin: "If She Wins...I'm Leaving Earth"

What rightwingers are unfortunately succeeding at is letting Bush take the blame rather than their ideology. It's a huge mistake on the part of those of us who are sane to let them get away with that without a fight. Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc. (Heritage, AEI, etc.) are still in business, somehow bringing blame on "the liberals" for the results of THEIR ideology and everything they've promoted being carried out to the tee. They intensely promoted, backed, and defended Bush every step of the way. The fact they still have enough credibility with a certain demographic to remain on the air shows they're not being held accountable by the market for their role in The Disaster. We should not let this happen.

These fallacy clown gasbags are just chomping at the bit to start shooting spitballs from the back of the classroom at the adult party that's trying to pay the bills and clean up the mess.
